Friends of Bear in Mine’d

Vicky and the Directors would like to thank the following people who have helped to set up the museum, and lent their support in other ways.

Support organisations

Outset Cornwall, supporting people to set up their own businesses. Victoria went on the Focus from the Outset programme in 2021, to learn how to run a business.

In addition, Vicky went on the social enterprise training offered through Outset via The Engine Room at Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change.

Cornwall School for Social Entrepreneurs‘ training was also something Vicky did during 2021, with more information on how to run a social enterprise.

Quiet Connections, an organisation dedicated to helping quieter and more sensitive people tame their feelings of social anxiety, and live more fulfilling lives. Vicky has been a member for several years.

Agan Tavas, (which means ‘our language’ in Old Cornish) a group which promotes the use and study of the Cornish language, and of any traditional forms of Cornish speech and spelling. Vicky has been learning Cornish with them, and Agan Tavas sponsored, and translated, the museum display boards into Cornish.

An old puzzle, sun-damaged, water-damaged, but complete!

Hannah of HD Words, writing for museum boards, website, etc

Hannah has been a friend of Vicky’s for well over a decade. Her business, HD Words, carries out copywriting, including websites, newsletters, leaflets, reports and more – now including museum boards!

Dan Phillips of D.P. Phillips

Dan Phillips is a first and second fix carpenter, who came to Bear in Mine’d to create the freestanding shed for the therapy sessions. Not your regular shed, this one has just 2 sides and a roof, so Dan had to be creative with the design. He rose to the occasion, creating the perfect rustic shed, out of reclaimed materials.

Adrian Tubb of Trusted Tech

Ade provides IT support in Cornwall for business and homes users, including computer repair, sales, IT equipment recycling & computer equipment recycling, data destruction and data erasure. We purchased some refurbished IT equipment from him, which he brought, and set up, and persuaded to talk to our existing kit, which we’re delighted about!

One of many boxes of bears, as they moved into the museum!
